When Eurythmics recorded their hit song “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)” in 1983, they somehow neglected to include chemical equations. Thirty years later, UCLA undergraduates Jessica Lee, Emily Chuang and Christine Nguyen have corrected the omission.
Yes, it’s June at UCLA, and that means commencement ceremonies and a new batch of chemistry music videos from students in Neil Garg’s highly popular organic chemistry course, Chemistry 14D, which the L.A. Weekly named one of the “Best of L.A. Classes” last October. (more…)
Social media has revolutionized the way in which people and businesses interact, and it is taking on a growing role in the health care industry. A new UCLA study looking at the use of social media among plastic surgeons found that roughly half of these specialists use social media tools.
Plastic surgeons have been leaders among medical specialists in the development of interactive websites to promote their practices and educate patients, said the study’s principal investigator and senior author, Dr. Reza Jarrahy, an associate clinical professor of plastic and reconstructive surgery at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center. Video Ad Views Reach Another All-Time High at 13.2 Billion in April
RESTON, VA, May 22, 2013 – comScore, Inc., a leader in measuring the digital world, today released data from the comScore Video Metrix service showing that 181.9 million Americans watched 38.8 billion online content videos in April, while the number of video ad views reached an all-time high at 13.2 billion.
Top 10 Video Content Properties by Unique Viewers
Google Sites, driven primarily by video viewing at YouTube.com, ranked as the top online video content property in April with 154.6 million unique viewers, followed by Facebook with 627 million, VEVO with 52.9 million, NDN with 45.3 million, and Yahoo! Sites with 45.1 million. Nearly 39 billion video content views occurred during the month, with Google Sites generating the highest number at 13.0 billion and Facebook reaching an all-time high once again with 740.8 million. FC2 Leads Top 10 Video Properties in Average Engagement
Google Sites, driven primarily by video viewing on YouTube, ranked as the top online video content property in December 2012 with 50 million unique viewers. Dwango Co., Ltd ranked second with 29 million viewers, followed by FC2 with 22 million viewers. DMM, although lower in the rankings with 5.2 million unique viewers, showed a year-over-year increase of 713 percent, the highest growth rate among the top 10 properties. In terms of engagement (Minutes per Viewer), FC2 ranked first among the top 10 with more than 23 hours per viewer while boasting the fastest year-over-year growth of 79 percent. (more…)
