Im Koalitionsvertrag zwischen Union und SPD wurde ein ständiger Internet-Ausschuss vereinbart, doch dann wurde die Einrichtung erst einmal auf unbestimmte Zeit verschoben. Zuletzt hieß es, der Ausschuss soll im Februar kommen. Erst seit wenigen Tagen hat die Diskussion wieder an Fahrt gewonnen. politik-digital.de fragt bei Netzpolitikern der Koalition nach dem Stand der Verhandlungen.

Für die Bundestagsabgeordnete Nadine Schön (CDU) sollte der Internet-Ausschuss die Funktion von “Schnittstelle, Anker und Motor der Umsetzung der Digitalen Agenda” übernehmen. Er muss die “vielen verschiedenen netzpolitischen Themen zu einem großen Projekt zusammenzuführen”. Aktuell wird über die Zusammensetzung des Ausschusses in Berlin verhandelt. Laut heute.de ist Schön auch als stellvertretendes Mitglied im “Ausschuss für Internet und Digitale Agenda” (AIDA) vorgesehen. (more…)

Innovative soft robotics technology spawns new products

The robot gripper invented by researchers at the University of Chicago and Cornell University is now available commercially. Empire Robotics, the company founded to commercialize the invention, is taking orders for the limited first release of its product called VERSABALL, scheduled to ship later this month.

“When we first started with the universal jamming gripper we did not think about industrial applications,” said Heinrich Jaeger, the William J. Friedman and Alica Townsend Professor in Physics at the University of Chicago. “But soon there were inquiries from various companies and in those early days we had to tell them that we are in basic research rather than R&D and that therefore we could not really make robotic grippers for sale.” (more…)

Im Koalitionsvertrag zwischen Union und SPD wurde ein ständiger Internet-Ausschuss vereinbart, doch kurz darauf wurde die Einrichtung erst einmal auf unbestimmte Zeit verschoben. Seitdem ist es um das Thema ruhig geworden. politik-digital.de fragt bei Netzpolitikern der Koalition nach dem Stand der Verhandlungen. Laut Bundestagsmitglied Lars Klingbeil (SPD) wird der Ausschuss sicher kommen. Er mache aber nur Sinn, wenn er die gesamte Bandbreite der netzpolitischen Themen abdeckt.

politik-digital.de: Der geplante Ausschuss für Internet und Digitale Agenda konnte als einziger Ausschuss vorerst nicht eingesetzt werden und wurde bis mindestens Februar auf Eis gelegt. Was sind die Gründe dafür?

Lars Klingbeil: CDU und CSU haben hier zusätzlichen Gesprächsbedarf angemeldet. Dieser Ausschuss wäre ein Novum in der Geschichte des Bundestags. Von daher ist es auch normal, dass einige strukturelle Fragen gründlich diskutiert werden müssen. Der Ausschuss wird aber kommen. Da bin ich mir sehr sicher. (more…)
