Yahoo! Board of Directors Forms Special Committee to Review CEO Academic Credentials

SUNNYVALE, Calif. –– The Board of Directors of Yahoo! Inc. today announced that it has formed a special committee to conduct a thorough review of CEO Scott Thompson’s academic credentials, as well as the facts and circumstances related to the review and disclosure of those credentials in connection with Thompson’s appointment as CEO.

The special committee is chaired by Alfred Amoroso, an independent director who joined the Board in February of this year. The other members of the special committee are John Hayes and Thomas McInerney, independent directors who joined the Board in April of this year. (more…)

SUNNYVALE, Calif. — Following a successful first season of original premium Web shows targeted at women, Yahoo! Inc., the premier digital media company, today launches the second season of its women’s slate on Yahoo! Screen (https://screen.yahoo.com). The second season includes three new shows: “Style Studio with Rebecca Minkoff” hosted by the famed fashion designer (coming May 2012 ), “The Yo Show on Yahoo!,” featuring entertainment news reporter Michael Yo (launching today), and a new version of “In the Dressing Room with Cat Deeley” hosted by the fashion expert and TV personality (coming spring 2012). Yahoo! has also renewed five shows from the original women’s slate including “Let’s Talk About Love” with Niecy Nash, “Reluctantly Healthy” with Judy Greer, “Ultimate Surprises” (formerly known as “Ultimate Proposal”) with Cameron Mathison, “Chow Ciao!” with Fabio Viviani, and “Blue Ribbon Hunter” with Allison Fishman — all of which originally debuted in October 2011. Morgan Spurlock’s “Failure Club,” launched in November 2011, will continue documenting its year-long project; “omg! NOW,” Yahoo!’s daily entertainment news show will continue as well. Three New Independent Directors Appointed to Yahoo! Board

SUNNYVALE, Calif. — Yahoo! Inc., the premier digital media company, today announced that its Board appointed three new independent directors, effective April 5, 2012 : John D. Hayes, Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of American Express Company; Peter Liguori, former Chief Operating Officer of Discovery Communications, Inc. and former Chairman and President of Entertainment of Fox Broadcasting Network; and Thomas J. McInerney, the outgoing Chief Financial Officer of IAC/InterActiveCorp.

“Each of these individuals impressed the search committee with their demonstrable records of significant accomplishment at the highest levels of media, advertising and marketing, finance, including corporate finance and restructuring, and further insight into customers’ perspectives. RESTON, VA, March 16, 2012 – comScore, Inc., a leader in measuring the digital world, today released data from the comScore Video Metrix service showing that 179 million U.S. Internet users watched nearly 38 billion videos of online video content in February.

Top 10 Video Content Properties by Unique Viewers

Google Sites, driven primarily by video viewing at YouTube.com, ranked as the top online video content property in February with 147.4 million unique viewers, followed by Yahoo! Sites with 60.9 million, VEVO with 52 million, Facebook.com with 43.6 million and Viacom Digital with 43.2 million. Nearly 38 billion video views occurred during the month, with Google Sites generating the highest number at 16.7 billion, followed by Hulu with 951 million and Yahoo! Sites with 721 million. The average viewer watched 21.8 hours of online video content, with Google Sites (7 hours) and Hulu (3.8 hours) demonstrating the highest average engagement among the top ten properties. (more…)

Google Sites, driven primarily by video viewing at YouTube.com, ranked as the top online video content property in January with 152 million unique viewers, followed by VEVO with 51.5 million, Yahoo! Sites with 49.2 million, Viacom Digital with 48.1 million and Facebook.com with 45.1 million. Nearly 40 billion videos views occurred during the month, with Google Sites generating the highest number at 18.6 billion, followed by Hulu with 877 million and VEVO with 717 million.
