A new analytics framework might soon help businesses monitor massive amounts of data in a user-friendly way.
Developed by the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI), Diamond Eye is a platform for one-stop data analytics. Before creating Diamond Eye, GTRI researchers had built a series of analytics tools for individual customers, such as an application-specific tool for monitoring Twitter and open source data for first responders. But because they were developed for specific applications, these tools were not designed to be used beyond the original goals and customers.(more…)

Interviews with Over 500 CMOs Show Data, Social Media Present Biggest Opportunities and Challenges
Armonk, N.Y. – 17 Mar 2014: According to a new IBM study, high-performing CMOs are integrating internal and external data to garner deep insights that, in turn, provide them with a much deeper understanding of their customers.
The study, entitled “Stepping up to the challenge: How CMOs can start to close the aspirational gap,” is based on findings from face-to-face conversations with more than 500 CMOs from 56 countries and 19 industries worldwide. Conducted by IBM’s Institute for Business Value (IBV), the study reveals that 94 percent of CMOs believe advanced analytics will play a significant role in helping them reach their goals. However, an increased number of CMOs say their organizations are underprepared to capitalize on the data explosion – 82 percent compared to 71 percent three years before. (more…)

politik-digital.de:Social Media sind im politischen Alltag der Bundesrepublik angekommen. Wie sind die Entwicklungen in der jüngeren Vergangenheit zu bewerten?
Martin Fuchs: Diese Entwicklung steht eng im Zusammenhang mit der sich verbessernden Verbreitung des Internetzugangs. Auf dieser Grundlage haben soziale Netzwerke eine größere Reichweite erhalten. Darin sehen die Politiker ein großes Potential, ihr Metier wieder attraktiv zu machen. Zum einen nutzen sie diese Plattformen dafür, um ihre Meinungen zu verbreiten. So tritt der Abgeordnete in direkten Kontakt zu den Bürgern, was den politischen Diskurs positiv beeinflusst. Zum anderen sind diese aber auch eine Möglichkeit, um Meinungsforschung zu betreiben. Allerdings ist es zeit- und auch kostenintensiv, zum Beispiel wenn Personal für diese Aufgaben eingestellt werden muss. (more…)
