IBM Study: Responding to Cybersecurity Incidents Still a Major Challenge for Businesses

77 percent of firms surveyed lack proper incident response plans; while 69 percent report funding for cyber resiliency is insufficient

CAMBRIDGE, MA – 14 Mar 2018: IBM Security (NYSE: IBM) today announced the results of a global study exploring the factors and challenges of being a Cyber Resilient organization. The study was conducted by Ponemon Institute and sponsored by IBM Resilient and found that 77 percent of respondents admit they do not have a formal cyber security incident response plan (CSIRP) applied consistently across their organization. Nearly half of the 2800 respondents reported that their incident response plan is either informal/ad hoc or completely non-existent. (more…)

IBM Study: Hybrid Clouds Dominate — Enable Companies to Innovate, Exceed Expectations

ARMONK, N.Y. – 01 Sep 2016: Almost every company is using the cloud, but not for everything, finds a new IBM study. Seventy-eight percent of respondents say their cloud initiatives are coordinated or fully integrated, compared to just 34 percent in 2012. And, among high performing organizations, that number climbs to 83 percent. At the same time, nearly half of workloads — 45 percent — are expected to remain on-premises with dedicated servers. IBM Study: CMOs Fusing Internal and External Data to Drive Financial Success

Interviews with Over 500 CMOs Show Data, Social Media Present Biggest Opportunities and Challenges

Armonk, N.Y. – 17 Mar 2014: According to a new IBM study, high-performing CMOs are integrating internal and external data to garner deep insights that, in turn, provide them with a much deeper understanding of their customers.

The study, entitled “Stepping up to the challenge: How CMOs can start to close the aspirational gap,” is based on findings from face-to-face conversations with more than 500 CMOs from 56 countries and 19 industries worldwide. Conducted by IBM’s Institute for Business Value (IBV), the study reveals that 94 percent of CMOs believe advanced analytics will play a significant role in helping them reach their goals. However, an increased number of CMOs say their organizations are underprepared to capitalize on the data explosion – 82 percent compared to 71 percent three years before.  (more…)

Small and Midsize Businesses Outperform Competitors By Fusing the Physical with Big Data, Mobile and the Cloud

ARMONK, N.Y – 21 Nov 2013: An IBM global study of C-Suite leaders uncovers a surprising fact about small and midsize companies: they may not be as digitally savvy as they’d like.   

The survey’s top findings include:

  • More than half of midmarket companies lack an integrated digital strategy.
  • 65% of the midmarket C-Suite business executives recognized that the lack of a cohesive social media plan is the biggest barrier to doing more in the digital space.
  • More than half of respondents also cite the need to better understand how social media fits with other operational priorities, and how to measure its return on investment. (more…)
