LONDON, UK, 11 October 2011 – comScore, Inc., a leader in measuring the digital world, today released an overview of internet usage in Europe, showing 372.1 million unique visitors went online in August 2011 for an average of 25.4 hours per person. This release highlights internet usage in 49 European markets aggregated under the European region and provides individual reporting on 18 markets. Among the reportable markets, the United Kingdom showed the highest engagement with users spending an average of nearly 35 hours online in the past month, up 1.5 hours from the previous month. In July 2011, nearly 1 in 4 smartphone users in EU5 reported using smartphones running on the Google Android platform. HTC had the highest market share among mobile original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), accounting for 34.6 percent of Android devices used across the region in this period, followed closely by Samsung with 31.7 percent of Android devices. Microsoft Announces Simple Transfer of Health Data From Google Health Service to Microsoft HealthVault

*Google Health users can send their Google Health profile directly to a HealthVault account using Direct Project messaging protocols.*

REDMOND, Wash. — July 18, 2011 — Microsoft Corp. today announced that people using the Google Health service, scheduled to be discontinued Jan. 1, 2012, can easily transfer their personal health information stored in a Google Health profile to a Microsoft HealthVault account using the Direct Project messaging protocols established by the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT. The Direct Project specifies a simple, scalable, standards-based way for participants to send authenticated, encrypted health information to known, trusted recipients over the Internet.

Google announced on June 24 that Google Health will be discontinued, effective Jan. 1, 2012, with records remaining available to account holders until Jan. 1, 2013. (more…)

The authors of a new book, famous American neuroscientists, argue that the mechanism of the sexual desire in women and men differs greatly.

In a recent U.S. book called A Billion Wicked Thoughts, famous scientists, neuroscientists Ogi Ogas and Sai Gaddam argue that the female brain is much more complex than that of a male when it comes to the choice of a sexual partner. For their findings, they used statistical data from billions of queries related to sex from Dogpile search engine that combines search results from Google, Yahoo! and Bing, their own experience in sexuality and psychology, as well as the latest scientific evidence about differences in brain activity in men and women. RESTON, VA, June 17, 2011 – comScore, Inc., a leader in measuring the digital world, today released data from the comScore Video Metrix service showing that 176 million U.S. Internet users watched online video content in May for an average of 15.9 hours per viewer. The total U.S. Internet audience engaged in more than 5.6 billion viewing sessions during the course of the month.

Top 10 Video Content Properties by Unique Viewers

Google Sites, driven primarily by video viewing at YouTube.com, ranked as the top online video content property in May with 147.2 million unique viewers, followed by VEVO with 60.4 million viewers and Yahoo! Sites with 55.5 million viewers. Facebook.com came in fourth with 48.2 million viewers, while Viacom Digital ranked fifth with 46.5 million viewers. Google Sites had the highest number of viewing sessions with more than 2.1 billion, and highest time spent per viewer at 311 minutes, crossing the 5-hour mark for the first time. (more…)
