Managerinnen-Barometer 2014: Frauenanteile in Spitzenpositionen großer Unternehmen steigen nur moderat

DIW Berlin hat über 500 Unternehmen und Geldhäuser untersucht – Vorstände und Aufsichtsräte weiterhin fest in Männerhand – Unternehmen mit Bundesbeteiligung von Vorbildrolle weit entfernt

Der Trend zu mehr Frauen in Spitzengremien hat sich 2013 insgesamt fortgesetzt, allerdings in äußerst geringem Ausmaß: In den Aufsichtsräten der gemessen am Umsatz 200 größten Unternehmen des Landes stieg der Frauenanteil gegenüber 2012 um etwa zwei Prozentpunkte auf gut 15 Prozent, in den Vorständen stagnierte er hingegen nahezu bei gut vier Prozent. Das geht aus dem neuesten Managerinnen-Barometer des Deutschen Instituts für Wirtschaftsforschung (DIW Berlin) hervor. „Vor allem in den Vorständen sind Frauen noch immer eklatant unterrepräsentiert“, sagt Elke Holst, Forschungsdirektorin Gender Studies im Vorstandsbereich des DIW Berlin. Bei den 30 im Deutschen Aktienindex (DAX) notierten Unternehmen war der Anteil von Frauen in Vorständen sogar rückläufig, um anderthalb Prozentpunkte auf gut sechs Prozent. „Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass mehr Frauen in Spitzenpositionen kein Selbstläufer sind“, so Holst. „Für eine möglichst egalitäre Postenbesetzung sind deutlich größere Anstrengungen nötig, auch über eine Geschlechterquote hinaus.“ (more…)

There are hundreds of ‘Zeitarbeitsfirma’ or ‘temporary employment agency’ dominating the current German labour market. These agencies lease workers mostly on short-term basis to different industries, supermarkets and other business enterprises. Leased workers (In German: Lieharbeiter or Zeitarbeiter) are normally low-paid and forced to do the heaviest works at their work places. Often they have to accept or bow down to inhuman demands of the ‘Zeitarbeitsfirma’.

For College Students, Job Market a Mixed Bag

EAST LANSING, Mich. — As Michigan State University’s Recruiting Trends report shows, college students are experiencing a mixed bag of outcomes when it comes to finding a job.

For some MSU students, like MBA candidate Megan Brody, the job search was short and rewarding. For others, like journalism senior Alex Mitchell, the hunt hasn’t led to any full-time positions.

Mitchell, who graduates in December with a degree in journalism, has sent out about 15 resumes to communications employers in Michigan and Ohio hoping to stay close to his hometown of Blissfield in southeastern Michigan. He said he will continue the process until he gets a job he sees fit. (more…)

REDMOND, Wash. — As part of the launch of the Microsoft YouthSpark initiative, Microsoft announced national partnerships with five major nonprofit organizations with missions to give youth the skills, education and job training they need to succeed: Boys & Girls Clubs of America, City Year, Junior Achievement USA (JA), Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) and Year Up.
