Zur neuen Entwicklung gehört, dass es neben der staatlichen Tätigkeit immer mehr auch Private sind (Einzelpersonen, Agenturen, Detektivbüros, Sicherheitsfirmen, privatwirtschaftlichen Unternehmen), die andere überwachen oder überwachen lassen, so dass man sagen kann, dass nach dem englischen Staatstheoretiker Thomas Hobbes (1588-1679) der Mensch nicht nur des Menschen Wolf, sondern auch dessen Grosser Bruder und Datenspeicher ist. Facebook Valued More Than Russia’s Largest Oil Company

Investment firm General Atlantic is going to purchase 0.1 percent of world’s largest social network Facebook. The deal may push the price of the network up to $65 billion, but the transaction requires approval from Facebook at first. The company has been showing an impressive growth during the recent years. In the middle of 2009, the deals with its shares were concluded on the base of the company cost of $10 billion.

General Atlantic announced an intention to purchase the shares from several former Facebook employees. The deal has not been closed yet. According to CNBC, the deal boosted the cost of the social network 30 percent up. At the end of January of 2011, the company was valued at $50, when Goldman Sachs placed Facebook shares worth $1 billion among its clients, the Vedomosti wrote. (more…)

Facebook Founder Mark Zuckerberg Named ‘Person of the Year’ by Time

Mark Zuckerberg, founder of Facebook Inc., was named Time magazine’s “Person of the Year” today for “creating a new system of exchanging information” and “changing how we all live our lives.”

Zuckerberg, 26, began the world’s largest social-networking site in 2004. The service, with more than 500 million users, has helped people connect with each other and changed definitions of privacy, Time Managing Editor Richard Stengel said in a letter on the magazine’s website. (more…)

Flickr says that by Oct 12 2009, it uploaded 4 billion photos. Flickr was born in Ferbruay 2004.

Facebook says that it’s the largest photo-sharing site with over 2.5 billion photos uploaded to the site each month. Facebook was born in 2004 in Harvard dormitory, fathered by Mr. Mark Zuckerberg. 🙂
