Das Deutsche Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt (DLR) präsentiert sich auf der ILA Berlin Air Show vom 20. bis zum 25. Mai 2014 in Berlin unter anderem mit Konzepten für ein nachhaltiges, sicheres und komfortables Fliegen. Auf dem Außengelände der Luftfahrtmesse stellt das DLR viele seiner Forschungsflugzeuge aus, unter anderem das Atmosphären-Forschungsflugzeuge Falcon 20E. In der vom DLR gemeinsam mit Partnern gestalteten Raumfahrthalle werden der Laufroboter TORO und viele aktuelle europäische Weltraummissionen vorgestellt. (more…)
ANN ARBOR — A newly released white paper calls for new approaches for preserving scientific data and sustainable funding of domain repositories—data archives with ties to specific scientific communities.
“Sustaining Domain Repositories for Digital Data: A White Paper” is the result of a meeting last summer that brought together representatives of 22 data repositories serving the social, natural and physical sciences. The meeting at the University of Michigan was organized by the Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research, part of the U-M Institute for Social Research. (more…)

New global security operations center in Wroclaw, Poland helps clients stay ahead of threats

To further protect its clients from emerging threats like those reported in the IBM X-Force Mid-Year Trend and Risk Report, IBM is today announcing the opening of a security operations center in Wroclaw, Poland. This newest IBM Security Operations Center is the 10th worldwide facility to help clients proactively manage these threats, including real-time analysis and early warning notification of security events. Data for the bi-annual X-Force report comes from IBM’s security operations centers which monitor more than 15 billion security events a day on behalf of approximately 4,000 clients in more than 130 countries.
