In der Debatte um eine Neuausrichtung der Wirtschaftswissenschaften hat der Philosoph und Wirtschaftsethiker Professor Claus Dierksmeier gefordert, moralische Prinzipien wieder ins Zentrum ökonomischen Denkens zu rücken. „Wirtschaftsethik muss von einer Seitenbegrenzung zu einer ganzheitlichen und strategischen Dimension der Wirtschaftstheorie avancieren“, erklärt Dierksmeier, Professor für Wirtschafts- und Globalisierungsethik  an der Universität Tübingen in seinem neuen Buch „Reframing Economic Ethics. The Philosophical Foundations of Humanistic Management“. Dieses Umdenken müsse sich auch in der akademischen Lehre der Wirtschaftswissenschaften widerspiegeln. (more…)

World’s Shallowest Slow-Motion Earthquakes Detected Off New Zealand’s Coast

AUSTIN, Texas — Research published in the May 6 edition of Science indicates that slow-motion earthquakes or “slow-slip events” can rupture the shallow portion of a fault that also moves in large, tsunami-generating earthquakes. The finding has important implications for assessing tsunami hazards.
