This was an extraordinarily ‘exciting’ week for alien hunters. Russian radio telescope Ratan-600 said to have registered a strong radio signal possibly from a star HD 164595 which is about 94 light-years away from Earth.
The star HD 164595 is located in the constellation Hercules.
However, later it turned out to be a signal emanating from a Soviet military satellite, which for whatever the reason is, escaped to be included in the catalogue of celestial bodies of Ratan-600. So at first look, it seemd like to be from an alien civilization. And that was the reason for all these excitements.
Nevertheless, the Soviet satellite, in fact, sent a strong message to the Russian telescope, „Don’t forget me brothers, I am still part of you“ 🙂
