ARMONK, N.Y., – 02 Jun 2011: IBM today announced it is helping Texas emergency responders in Fort Worth and Tarrant County’s joint emergency operations center (JEOC) better respond to calls for help and communicate instantaneously with dozens of agencies and departments across that state.

Fort Worth and Tarrant County are two of the fastest growing jurisdictions in Texas with about 1.8 million residents. Using social software from IBM and its business partner, UnifiedEdge, the region is rapidly creating a “smarter” and modern public safety system to serve its growing population. (more…)

Global IBM CIO Study reveals today’s CEOs and CIOs strongly aligned on future challenges and complexity

Sydney, Australia – 18 May 2011: Results from a global study of more than 3,000 Chief Information Officers (CIOs) released by IBM today, reveal that for the first time, CEOs and CIOs are strategically aligned in their thinking around future challenges and complexity, with both groups focusing on insight and intelligence, client intimacy and people skills to drive organisational strategy.

The CIO Study shows that 57 per cent of CIOs anticipate more change and complexity in the next five years while 55 per cent of CEOs anticipate the same, according to the IBM’s 2010 Global CEO study. (more…)

ARMONK, N.Y., – 14 Apr 2011: IBM today announced that it has completed the acquisition of TRIRIGA, Inc., a privately-held company based in Las Vegas, Nevada. Financial terms were not disclosed.

On March 22, IBM announced that it had entered into a definitive agreement to acquire TRIRIGA, a leading provider of facility and real estate management software solutions.

Many of the systems that constitute a building – heat, water, sewage, electricity and physical assets – are managed independently and often inefficiently. Collecting, managing and analyzing data in buildings provides actionable insight to energy, space and facilities management. (more…)

SINGAPORE, – 07 Mar 2011: IBM today announced a US$38M investment in a new IBM Asia Pacific Cloud Computing Data Centre in Singapore, which will provide businesses with solutions and services to harness the potential of cloud computing. The new facility will extend IBM’s globally-integrated cloud delivery network with centres in Germany, Canada and the United States; and 13 global cloud labs, of which seven are based in Asia Pacific – China, India, Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, Vietnam and Singapore.

Scheduled to launch in April, the Centre will make available IBM’s comprehensive cloud services and technology portfolio via the company’s cloud delivery infrastructure. These services are designed to enable clients to reap the benefits of business and IT transformation; increase flexibility and agility; accelerate time to market; reduce costs; and increase security and compliance of public cloud environments. The 10-petaflop IBM Blue Gene/Q supercomputer, named “Mira”, will be operational in 2012 and made available to scientists from industry, academia and government research facilities around the world. (more…)
