Das gehört längst zur medialen Realität. Doch die Anforderungen an den Erwerb digitaler Kompetenz von Kindern und Jugendlichen sind hoch.

Die Spielzeugbranche hat es längst erkannt: Sogar die Allerkleinsten sind fasziniert von Tablets und Smartphones. Früh haben sie begriffen, dass man über das Display wischen muss, um das nächste Foto aufzurufen. Kinder erleben täglich, wie ihre Eltern mobile Endgeräte nutzen und wollen es ihnen gleichtun. Dementsprechend haben inzwischen fast alle großen Spielzeuganbieter das Kindersmartphone in ihrem Sortiment. Ausgezeichnet sind die Produkte für die Altersgruppe ab sechs Monaten. Die Firma Fisher-Price bietet eine kindgerechte iPhone-Halterung an, damit auch Kleinstkinder das elterliche Telefon benutzen können, ohne dass das Display in tausend Scherben zerspringt. Blinkende und laute Spielzeuge sind ohnehin extrem beliebt – doch sollen Kinder, die noch nicht einmal ein Jahr alt sind, schon mobile Endgeräte bedienen? Violent Video Games: More Playing Time Equals More Aggression

COLUMBUS, Ohio – A new study provides the first experimental evidence that the negative effects of playing violent video games can accumulate over time.

Researchers found that people who played a violent video game for three consecutive days showed increases in aggressive behavior and hostile expectations each day they played. Meanwhile, those who played nonviolent games showed no meaningful changes in aggression or hostile expectations over that period. (more…)

Violent Video Games Reduce Brain Response to Violence and Increase Aggressive Behavior, University of Missouri Study Finds

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Scientists have known for years that playing violent video games causes players to become more aggressive.  The findings of a new University of Missouri (MU) study provide one explanation for why this occurs: the brains of violent video game players become less responsive to violence, and this diminished brain response predicts an increase in aggression.

“Many researchers have believed that becoming desensitized to violence leads to increased human aggression. Until our study, however, this causal association had never been demonstrated experimentally,” said Bruce Bartholow, associate professor of psychology in the MU College of Arts and Science. (more…)
