Diamond Eye Provides Real-time, Streaming Data Science to the Business World

A new analytics framework might soon help businesses monitor massive amounts of data in a user-friendly way.

Developed by the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI), Diamond Eye is a platform for one-stop data analytics. Before creating Diamond Eye, GTRI researchers had built a series of analytics tools for individual customers, such as an application-specific tool for monitoring Twitter and open source data for first responders. Europäer schleppten Katzen nach Australien ein

Wissenschaftler des Senckenberg Biodiversität und Klima Forschungszentrums haben gemeinsam mit einem internationalen Team die Einschleppung von Katzen nach Australien untersucht. Sie kommen anhand von DNA-Untersuchungen zu dem Schluss, dass die Katzen von europäischen Siedlern im 18. Jahrhundert eingeführt wurden. Heute zählen die wildlebenden Katzen zu einer der größten Bedrohungen der australischen Artenvielfalt. Die Studie wurde kürzlich im Fachjournal „BMC Evolutionary Biology“ veröffentlicht.

Aktuelle Forschungsergebnisse der PaläontologInnen Jürgen Kriwet und Cathrin Pfaff von der Universität Wien bringen eine klassische Evolutionstheorie der Wirbeltiere ins Wanken: Die Kieferzähne von Haien und Rochen sollen demnach nicht direkt von den äußeren Körperschuppen abstammen.
