Freiburger Forscher zeigen, wie eine molekulare Fassstruktur unterschiedliche Funktionen in Mitochondrien ausübt

Freiburger Forscherinnen und Forscher haben entdeckt, dass das molekulare Fassprotein Mdm10 durch Anbindung an Proteinmaschinen unterschiedliche Funktionen für die Entstehung und Aufrechterhaltung der Struktur von Mitochondrien ausführen kann. Diese produzieren als Kraftwerke der Zellen beispielsweise die Energie für deren Stoffwechsel. Das Team um Prof. Dr. Nikolaus Pfanner und Privatdozent Dr. Thomas Becker vom Institut für Biochemie und Molekularbiologie der Universität Freiburg hat gemeinsam mit weiteren Kolleginnen und Kollegen die Ergebnisse in der Fachzeitschrift „Nature Communications“ veröffentlicht.

The “a-ha!” moment came during one of her many modeling shoots, when Rian Buckley often wore clothes that were pinned, clipped and altered to fit her body shape. She saw repeatedly how the same clothes — jeans in particular — can look drastically different on two models with the same clothing size. YSPH Study of Environmental Contaminants Associated with Fracking Underway in Ohio

A team of Yale School of Public Health scientists has launched the Ohio Water and Air Quality Study in Belmont County, Ohio. The scientists will collect and analyze water and air samples this summer as well as administer health questionnaires to 100 residents in communities with unconventional natural gas development. The researchers will investigate the potential for exposure to environmental pollutants and whether any health problems have resulted. (more…)
