Die Venusfliegenfalle fängt Insekten nicht nur, um an wertvolle Nährstoffe zu gelangen: Ein Forschungsteam um Prof. Dr. Heinz Rennenberg und Lukas Fasbender vom Institut für Forstwissenschaften der Universität Freiburg hat nachgewiesen, dass die fleischfressende Pflanze aus ihrer Beute auch Energie gewinnt. Die Wissenschaftlerinnen und Wissenschaftler haben ihre Ergebnisse im Fachjournal „New Phytologist“ vorgestellt.

Forschungsnetzwerk veröffentlicht Empfehlung gegen “Lichtverschmutzung”
Lichterketten, Straßenlaternen und Werbe-Displays: Gerade im Dezember erhellen wir die dunkle Jahreszeit mit Außenbeleuchtung. Dass diese uns nicht nur in eine weihnachtliche Stimmung versetzt, sondern auch negative Folgen für Mensch und Natur haben kann, ist bereits länger bekannt. Ein internationales ForscherInnenteam mit Beteiligung von Thomas Posch, Astrophysiker an der Universität Wien, hat nun Leitlinien für die Außenbeleuchtung veröffentlicht. Diese sollen dazu beitragen, Licht in unseren Städten künftig nachhaltiger einzusetzen – zum Wohle von Mensch und Umwelt.
