Vor rund 7.600 Jahren wurden das Entstehen bäuerlicher Siedlungen in Südosteuropa und damit der zivilisatorische Fortschritt plötzlich deutlich verzögert. Verantwortlich ist wahrscheinlich ein sprunghafter Meeresspiegelanstieg in der nördlichen Ägäis. Seine Spuren konnten Forscher des Senckenberg Biodiversität und Klima Forschungszentrums, der Goethe-Universität und der University of Toronto jetzt in Kalkalgen nachweisen. (more…)
