Der Tigerhai wird bis zu fünfeinhalb Meter lang und zählt somit zu den größten lebenden Haien. Heute kommt er weltweit vor und zeichnet sich durch das namensgebende Streifenmuster auf seiner Rückseite aus. Ein internationales Forscher*innen Team um Julia Türtscher von der Universität Wien hat sich mit dem Ursprung dieser Räuber beschäftigt und herausgefunden, dass es in der Vergangenheit mehr Arten gab und es den heutigen Tigerhai schon deutlich länger gibt als bisher angenommen.
