Auch Spitzenfußballer mit Migrationshintergrund identifizieren sich mit Deutschland und stellen ihren Sport über nationale und ethnische Aspekte. Ihr großes Ziel: Eines Tages in der deutschen Nationalmannschaft zu spielen. Dieses Fazit ziehen Sportwissenschaftler in einer Studie der Universität Tübingen, in der sie den Zusammenhang von nationaler Identität und der Entscheidung, für eine Nationalmannschaft zu spielen, untersucht hatten. Unter Leitung von Dr. Klaus Seiberth und Professor Ansgar Thiel hatte ein Forscherteam dafür Junioren-Fußballspieler mit türkischem Migrationshintergrund befragt.
