The world of technologies doesn’t cease to surprise. This time we have an innovation from Apple. It should seem, there only was a fuss about the new iPhone 5, and now we have the news about the brand-new iPhone 5S. Is there a big difference between these two models and how many people are going to buy the latest one?

In the year 2007 Steve Jobs made a sensation when presented to the world his invention – a small device with lots of functions and capabilities, not a simple phone but it seemed a small computer with exception for particular functions. It was a furor, not to say more. W3C Announces First Draft of Standard for Online Privacy

*Do Not Track Approach Balances User Preferences with Personalized Web Experiences*

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – 17 Nov 2011: To address rising concerns about privacy on the Web, W3C has published two first drafts for standards that allow users to express preferences about online tracking:

  • Tracking Preference Expression (DNT), which defines mechanisms for users to express cross-site tracking preferences and for sites to indicate whether they honor these preferences.
  • Tracking Compliance and Scope, which defines the meaning of a “Do Not Track” preference and sets out practices for websites to comply with this preference.

These documents are the early work of a broad set of stakeholders in the W3C Tracking Protection Working Group, including browser vendors, content providers, advertisers, search engines, and experts in policy, privacy, and consumer protection. W3C invites review of these early drafts, which are starting points of work to come. W3C expects them to become standards by mid-2012. (more…)

iPhone App May Support Monitoring and Research on Parkinson’s Disease

Researchers at the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) have developed a novel iPhone application that may enable persons with Parkinson’s disease and certain other neurological conditions to use the ubiquitous devices to collect data on hand and arm tremors and relay the results to medical personnel.

The researchers believe the application could replace subjective tests now used to assess the severity of tremors, while potentially allowing more frequent patient monitoring without costly visits to medical facilities. (more…)
