All Nine Women in Brown University Computer Science Class Intern at Microsoft

*After spending a summer working in Redmond, the junior class women of Brown University’s computer science department find new confidence.*  

REDMOND, Wash. This summer, all of the junior class women of Brown University’s computer science department found themselves interning at Microsoft. 

They can field their own baseball team, with nine women in all — a group small enough to fit around a large lunch table at The Commons, but large enough to make for vibrant conversation. But baseball isn’t what these nine women all have in common – it’s computer science.

IBM to Acquire Unica Corporation

ARMONK, N.Y. & WALTHAM, Mass. – 13 Aug 2010: IBM (NYSE: IBM) and Unica Corporation (NASDAQ: UNCA) today announced they have entered into a definitive agreement for IBM to acquire Unica in a cash transaction at a price of $21 per share, or at a net price of approximately $480 million, after adjusting for cash.   

A publicly held company in Waltham, Mass., Unica will expand IBM’s ability to help organizations analyze and predict customer preferences and develop more targeted marketing campaigns.

Indonesia, Brazil and Venezuela Lead Global Surge in Twitter Usage

Reston, VA – comScore, Inc. (NASDAQ: SCOR), a leader in measuring the digital world, on Aug 11. released a report on Twitter.com growth worldwide. The study found that in June, nearly 93 million Internet users visited Twitter.com, an increase of 109 percent from the previous year, as the social networking site achieved strong gains across all global regions. Indonesia reported the highest penetration, with 20.8 percent of Internet users in the country visiting Twitter.com that month, followed by Brazil and Venezuela, with Venezuela’s growth fueled in large part by Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez’s decision to join Twitter in late April.
