Rate der Geburtsprobleme wird durch natürliche Selektion nicht verringert

Frauen, die wegen einem Schädel-Becken-Missverhältnis ihrer Mutter durch Kaiserschnitt auf die Welt kamen, entwickeln mehr als doppelt so häufig ein Missverhältnis bei der Geburt ihrer Kinder als jene Frauen, die natürlich geboren wurden. Zu diesem Schluss kommen EvolutionsbiologInnen der Universität Wien um Philipp Mitteröcker, die in einem mathematischen Modell das scheinbar paradoxe Phänomen erklären, dass die Rate an Geburtsproblemen durch natürliche Selektion nicht verringert werden konnte. Dodging dots helps explain brain circuitry

In a new study, Brown University neuroscientists looked cell-by-cell at the brain circuitry that tadpoles, and possibly other animals, use to avoid collisions. The study produced a model of how individual inhibitory and excitatory neurons can work together to control a simple behavior.
