Yahoo is unlucky. Even the smartest and youngest CEO and a Google veteran Marissa Mayer could not save it. She was hired in 2012 with the sole purpose to bring Yahoo to a powerful position to compete with the search giant Google and social media Facebook. But far away from achieving any success, the company is now on its way to ‘non-existence’. The ‘doomsday’ just arrived. Nordseebewohner mit Strichcode

Wissenschaftler von Senckenberg am Meer in Wilhelmshaven haben eine DNA-Datenbank für Nordsee-Tiere aufgebaut. Insgesamt hat die Forschergruppe Erbgut-Informationen von bislang über 500 Arten und 3500 Individuen gespeichert, inklusive zahlreiche Fische und Krebse. Erste Ergebnisse sind in den Fachjournalen „Molecular Ecology Resources“ und „Organisms, Diversity & Evolution“ erschienen.

Seit mehr als hundert Jahren gibt es in der Nordsee kommerzielle Fischerei. Heute liefert das Schelfmeer etwa 5 Prozent des globalen Fischbedarfes – mit der Konsequenz, dass heimische Fischarten, wie Kabeljau, Scholle oder Seezunge im Bestand bereits deutlich reduziert sind. (more…)
