In diesem Kontext ist die historische Dimension des sogenannten Artentransfers zwischen den Kolonien im imperialen Zeitalter von aktuellem Interesse. Die DFG fördert seit Anfang 2017 ein Projekt an der Universität Kassel, das diesen Aspekt untersucht: „Ökologische Netzwerke und Transfers zwischen Australien, Südasien und Afrika, 1850-1920“.
