Die in Europa weit verbreitete Art Serendipita herbamans lebt in Symbiose mit Wurzeln zahlreicher Pflanzen und fördert ihr Wachstum auch unter Laborbedingungen

Forscher der Universität Tübingen haben eine bislang unbekannte, mikroskopisch kleine Pilzart entdeckt, die bei bestimmten Pflanzen das Wachstum fördert. „Diese in Europa heimische Pilzart hat das Potenzial, als Biodünger zur Ertragssteigerung von Nutzpflanzen wie zum Beispiel Weizen oder Mais in der Landwirtschaft beizutragen“, sagt Dr. Sigisfredo Garnica vom Institut für Evolution und Ökologie.
