ANN ARBOR — More Americans view global warming by what they see outside their windows and not scientific evidence, according to a University of Michigan survey.

ANN ARBOR — An increasing number of Americans indicate that there is evidence of global warming, with 67 percent now expressing a belief that the planet has warmed over the past four decades, according to a University of Michigan survey.
It marks the highest level of belief in global warming since a 72 percent-measure in 2008 and is up from 52 percent in spring 2010.
The results come from the National Surveys on Energy and Environment, a joint effort of the Center for Local, State, and Urban Policy at U-M’s Ford School of Public Policy and the Muhlenberg Institute of Public Opinion at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pa. (more…)
ANN ARBOR, Mich.— Americans are less willing to open their wallets to pay for increased production of renewable energy resources than Canadians, a new University of Michigan report indicates.
Americans who indicated they would not pay anything each year was at 41 percent compared with 21 percent for their counterpart. The willingness of Americans to contribute anything has declined between 2008 and 2010, the report said.
“Canadians are far more likely to see climate change as real and as a serious problem, and this appears to translate into greater willingness to take concrete steps in response,” said Barry Rabe, Arthur Thurnau Professor of the Gerald R.
