Eliud Kipchoge aus Kenia, derzeit schnellster Mensch über die Marathondistanz, wird voraussichtlich am kommenden Samstag im Wiener Prater versuchen, als erster Mensch einen Marathon unter zwei Stunden zu laufen. Im Mai 2018 war ein ähnlicher Versuch in Monza knapp gescheitert. Diesmal wurde mit der Hauptallee eine Strecke ausgewählt, die schneller als jene in Monza sein soll und nur unwesentlich langsamer als eine theoretische Idealstrecke ohne Steigungen und Kurven. ForscherInnen aus Österreich und den USA haben einen Vergleich einer theoretischen Idealstrecke ohne Steigungen und Kurven mit der Strecke im Wiener Prater angestellt. (more…)
