$210 M in bribes

CNN reported citing Transparency International, ‘The Poor’ in India paid the above amount in bribes in 2007.

The bribe was paid to access the basic services which include but not limited to getting relatives admitted into hospitals or enrolling children in schools. That shows hardly any sector of the daily life remains exempted from corruption.

But not only India, other South Asian countries like Bangladesh is heavily corrupted as well. Corruption is a big challenge and one of the prime obstacles in fighting poverty. Fortunately there’s a voice against it and it’s gaining strength and success – Transparency International.
