Der NABU präsentiert Meeresschutzarbeit auf der „boot“ 2014

Auch in diesem Jahr wird der NABU auf der weltgrößten Wassersportmesse „boot“ vom 18. bis 26. Januar in Düsseldorf seine Meeresschutzarbeit vorstellen. Anhand von ausführlichen Materialien können sich die Besucher über das Thema Müll im Meer informieren und das Internetportal zum Projekt „Saubere Meere“ entdecken. Der NABU hatte dieses im vergangenen Jahr gemeinsam mit den drei deutschen Wassersportverbänden VDST, DSV und DKV ins Leben gerufen.

Der Deutsche Kanu-Verband (DKV), der Deutsche Segler-Verband (DSV) und der Verband Deutscher Sporttaucher (VDST) setzen damit gemeinsam mit dem NABU ein Zeichen gegen die zunehmende Vermüllung von Gewässern und rufen zur Müllvermeidung und einem rücksichtsvollen Naturerlebnis auf. (more…)

Trial to test using ultrasound to move kidney stones

Almost one in 10 people will someday experience a kidney stone, which creates what is described as the most intense pain imaginable. This increasingly common condition leads to hundreds of thousands of surgeries in the United States each year.

How technology killing your sex relationship

In our life, technology is an essential part in our life, which we will never ignore it. Nevertheless, one thing is sure that sometimes technology comes as a wall in our relationship. Therefore, we fall on it and make our life more miserable as well. Particularly, it is felt very much in our sex relationship as well. The reason is that the technology comes as an intruder in our privacy time. Therefore, that, if we could not immediately avoid it during our privacy time, then our relationship will be suffered also. When we are in any kind of sexual activity, then we should be careful about it. Therefore, that it can hamper our high time in our personal physical journey as well.

Phone call

When you are engaged in sexual activity, then if you get the phone call, you should immediately ignore it. Otherwise, your exploration in the sexual world will be incomplete. Therefore, you should make yourself stubborn in your conviction that you will never receive any phone call during your sexual journey as well. Actually, what happens is that when you will receive the phone call during sexual activity, your partner will be upset most. Therefore, you should be careful in this matter. HELGA vs. BENJAMIN – ein “trübes” Pärchen

Es ist nur wenige Tage her, dass ich in einer Frittenbude entspannt
eine Zwischenmahlzeit konsumierte, als am Nebenstehtisch plötzlich
jemand blökt: “So ein Scheißwetter!” – Was war passiert? Eigentlich
nichts. Bedeckter Himmel mit Wolkenuntergrenze bis fast zu den
Schuhsohlen (was nicht nur akademisch, sondern auch praktisch “Nebel”
bedeutet), dazu anhaltender Nieselregen und 5 Grad plus.
“Scheißwetter” eben, was auch der Verfasser – von Berufs wegen
eigentlich zur Neutralität verpflichtet – so gesehen hat. Nun könnten
kritische und besonders wetterresistente Zeitgenossen einwerfen, was
man sich denn aufrege. Richtig, der genannte Wetterzustand ist in
unseren Breiten per se keine Besonderheit. Das Problem ist nur (und
das ging offensichtlich auch dem Frittenbudenbesucher auf den Geist):
Dieses Wetter stellt im Winter 2013/14 in einigen Regionen fast schon

Bekenntnis für mehr Natur zur Grünen Woche gefordert

Am 17. Januar beginnt in Berlin die Internationale Grüne Woche – die Messe rund um Ernährung, Landwirtschaft und Gartenbau. Aus diesem Anlass fordert der NABU den neuen Bundeslandwirtschaftsminister Hans-Peter Friedrich zu einem klaren Bekenntnis für eine naturverträglichere Landwirtschaft auf. „Nitrat und Pestizide im Grundwasser, Vermaisung der Landschaft, Futtermittel-Skandale und Massentierhaltung sowie anhaltender Verlust der Artenvielfalt machen deutlich, dass es ein ‚Weiter so‘ in der Agrarpolitik nicht geben kann“, sagt NABU-Präsident Olaf Tschimpke. ‘Standing on a comet’: Rosetta mission will contribute to space weather research

ANN ARBOR — A comet-bound spacecraft that’s been in sleep mode for more than two years is scheduled to wake up on the morning of Jan. 20—beginning the home stretch of its decade-long journey to a mile-wide ball of rock, dust and ice.

If all goes as planned, Rosetta—a European Space Agency-led mission that involves University of Michigan engineers and scientists—will be the first craft to actually land on a comet as well as track it for an extended period of time. (more…)

‘Life as Research Scientist’: Jo Varner, Biologist

Jo Varner, University of Utah biology doctoral student, is currently conducting research on how small mammals like Pikas are coping with Earth’s warming climate. Her study is concentrated on Pikas in the Columbia River Gorge area in the U.S, which is an unusual habitat for this species.
