Prof. Dr. Prasad Shastri, Professor für Biofunktionale Makromolekulare Chemie am Institut für Makromolekulare Chemie und Professor für Cell Signalling Environments im Exzellenzcluster BIOSS Centre for Biological Signalling Studies der Universität Freiburg, hat die Studie geleitet. Startup Licenses UA-Invented Mining Sensor Network

At the core of the system is the ability to sense a miner’s location and body temperature, predict potential problems and recommend steps to avert health risks.

University of Arizona startup GUIA has licensed a mining communication and sensor platform developed by faculty in the UA’s College of Engineering and Lowell Institute for Mineral Resources. While the team’s initial focus for this “internet of things” system is mining, the company is looking to apply the technology to a number of other environments. (more…)

Östrogene in Nahrung könnten neuartige Brustkrebstherapie beeinträchtigen

Frauen mit hormonabhängigem, metastasierendem Brustkrebs steht seit kurzem eine Kombinationstherapie mit dem neuartigen Wirkstoff Palbociclib und einer antihormonellen Therapie zur Verfügung. Fremdstoffe aus Ernährung und Umwelt, die im menschlichen Körper wie Hormone wirken, könnten aber die Effizienz der Behandlung reduzieren, wie nun US-Forscher unter Beteiligung von Benedikt Warth von der Fakultät für Chemie der Universität Wien zeigen konnten.
