Microsoft and EINS Sign Android Patent Agreement

Agreement covers EINS Cat tablets running the Android platform.

REDMOND, Wash. — Dec. 11, 2012 — Microsoft Corp. and EINS SE signed a patent licensing agreement that provides broad coverage under Microsoft’s patent portfolio for EINS devices running the Android platform. EINS manufactures Android tablets under the Cat brand in Germany. While the contents of the agreement have not been disclosed, the parties indicate that Microsoft will receive royalties from EINS SE.

“This agreement with EINS is an important development that reinforces the success of our licensing program in the European market, particularly in Germany,” said Horacio Gutierrez, corporate vice president and deputy general counsel of the Intellectual Property Group at Microsoft. “In the past year, Microsoft has been able to demonstrate the strength of our German patent portfolio and its relevance to Android devices. Microsoft and Salesforce.com Settle Patent Infringement Cases, Reach Patent Agreement

REDMOND, Wash. Microsoft Corp. announced, on Aug.4, that it has settled the patent infringement cases brought by Microsoft before the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington and by Salesforce.com in the U.S. District Court of Delaware.
