54M Americans Wait Until Last Minute to File Taxes; Cybercriminals Poised to Exploit Tax Deadline to Cash in on Refunds

CAMBRIDGE, MA – 05 Apr 2017: IBM (NYSE: IBM) Security today released a new report taking a closer look at the techniques and motivations of cybercriminals targeting taxpayers in the United States. Between December 2016 and February 2017, IBM X-Force researchers saw a 6,000 percent increase in tax-related spam emails. The researchers see this increase and other factors as evidence that cybercriminals are not slowing down their attacks in the days leading up to Tax Day 2017. (more…)

Atmosphärische Schwerewellen beeinflussen das Wetter und  auch langfristig das Klimageschehen. Vom 29. Juni bis 23. Juli 2014 fliegt das Forschungsflugzeug Falcon des Deutschen Zentrums für Luft- und Raumfahrt (DLR) in mehreren Nächten über die  Neuseeländischen Alpen, um mit moderner Lasermesstechnik und weiteren Instrumenten zu untersuchen, wie sich diese Wellen von der Erdoberfläche bis in 100 Kilometer Höhe ausbreiten. Lack of cyber security skills a major inhibitor to adoption of emerging technologies like cloud, mobile, cognitive and social networks

ARMONK, N.Y – 15 Nov 2013: IBM today announced that it is adding eleven additional schools to its more than 200 partnerships with universities around the globe, focusing on collaborating to bring cyber security skills into the classroom. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics employment in the cyber security field is expected to grow rapidly, increasing 22 percent by 2020. As organizations transmit and store more sensitive information electronically, the need for employees with experience in cyber security will be imperative in order to protect data in the cloud, mobile devices and traditional computing.
