Military power ranking 2023: Myanmar vs Bangladesh

GFP (globalfirepower.com) published their annaul military ranking of 145 countries for 2023.

Two South-Asian nations Myanmar and Bangladesh took their ranking at positioins 38 and 40 respectively. Netherlands stands in between.

Here are some key points:

Myanmar’s defense budget 2,3 billion USD – Bangladesh’s defense budget 3,9 billion USD.

Myanmar has distinct air superiority over Bangladesh: Myanmar has 21 attack fighter jets, Bangladesh on the other hand ‘0’ attack fighter jet. Not only this Myanmar has 9 attack hecopters and Bangladesh has none.

Myanmar has 3 times more tanks than Bangladesh. Myanmar has 230 self-propelled artillery whereas Bangladesh has only 30. Myanmar has 6 times more towed artillery than Bangladesh.

Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS): Bangladesh 70 , Myanmar 586.

None of the two countries own any destroyer. Bangladesh has 7 Frigates, Myanmar 5. Both countries have 2 submarines each. Myanmar has large array of patrol boats (124), Bangladesh has just 30.

Myanmar armed forces have 400,000 active personnel, Bangladesh has 165,000.

However, Bangladesh has something very remarkable than any other nations. It’s number of paramilitary forces is 6,8 million, making the nation world’s number one. India took 2nd position with 2,5 million paramilitary troops.
