Researchers at North Carolina State University have developed a new technique for creating NV-doped single-crystal nanodiamonds, only four to eight nanometers wide, which could serve as components in room-temperature quantum computing technologies. Ihr Fazit: Es liegt nicht an der Vokalanatomie, dass Affen nicht sprechen können, sondern am Gehirn. Einem internationalen Wissenschaftlerteam unter Führung der Universität Tübingen ist es erstmals gelungen, mit technischen Mitteln die Handfunktion Querschnittsgelähmter im Alltag fast vollständig wiederherzustellen: Mit Hilfe eines hirngesteuerten Hand-Exoskeletts, also einer Art tragbaren Roboters, konnten sechs Probanden ihre gelähmte Hand in Alltagssituationen einsetzen.
