White Killer Whales

Almost a mythic creature, the white killer whales, the wolves of the sea, have been rarely sighted in past years. More common are the classic black and white killer whales. They hunt in packs likes wolves.

CNN reported that this almost rare whale was spotted in Alaska’s Aleutian islands on February 23. Sightings of these whales along the Russian coast have been reported as well.

Killer whales are the ever known largest predators of mammals. A male whale can weigh as much as 12,000 lb (5442 kg) and up to 30 feet (9 m) long.

Among its diets, 15 – 27% are marine mammals. They prey on other whales like Minke whales or Gray whales in groups among many of their choices. Killer whales generally targets young or weak whales.
