Gemeinsame Prinzipien bei Vogelgesang und menschlicher Musik entdeckt
Der Gesang der in Nordamerika beheimateten Einsiedlerdrossel unterliegt Prinzipien, die typisch für menschliche Musik sind – nämlich Töne aus der Obertonreihe. Tecumseh Fitch und Bruno Gingras, beide Kognitionsbiologen an der Universität Wien, konnten dies nun erstmals zusammen mit einem internationalen Team mit analytischen Methoden belegen. Die Ergebnisse sind vor allem für die “Anlage-Umwelt-Diskussion” relevant. Im konkreten Fall für die Frage, ob musikalische Merkmale, wie die Präferenz für konsonante Intervalle, biologisch oder kulturell determiniert sind.
