in Singapore, which will provide businesses with solutions and services to harness the potential of cloud computing. The new facility will extend IBM’s globally-integrated cloud delivery network with centres in Germany, Canada and the United States; and 13 global cloud labs, of which seven are based in Asia Pacific – China, India, Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, Vietnam and Singapore.
Scheduled to launch in April, the Centre will make available IBM’s comprehensive cloud services and technology portfolio via the company’s cloud delivery infrastructure. data from the comScore MobiLens service, reporting key trends in the German smartphone market during the three month average period ending November 2010. The report ranked the leading smartphone operating system (OS) platforms in Germany according to their share of current mobile subscribers ages 13 and older. The November report found that Symbian led among smartphone platforms with 47.7 percent market share, followed by Apple (19.5 percent), Microsoft (13.7 percent), Google (10.6 percent) and RIM (4.8 percent). Yale University researchers have found that a single molecule not only connects brain cells but also changes how we learn. The findings, reported in the December 9 issue of the journal Neuron, may help researchers discover ways to improve memory and could lead to new therapies to correct neurological disorders.
The junctions between brain cells over which nerve pulses pass — called synapses — are crucial for regulating learning and memory and how we think. Aberrations in the structure and function of synapses have been linked to mental retardation and autism, while synapses are lost in the aging brains of Alzheimer’s patients. (more…)
