Public Health England, a British Government’s health agency, just reported a case of a heterosexual man infected with ‘Neisseria gonorrhoeae’. The superbug is resistant to both the antibiotics azithromycin and ceftriaxone. This is worldwide the first case of multi-drug-resistant Gonorrhoeae.
The heterosexual man has one regular female partner in the UK, the Agency reports. But one month before the symptoms begin, he had a female sexual contact in south-east Asia which could be the source of the sexually transmitted infection.
This could also probably be a case of ‘sex tourism’.
Sex tourism is widespread in south-east Asian countries like Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia.
