It’s very easy to partition or resize your hard drive, which is normally (C):, in Windows 7.
Let’s say your hard drive has space of 300 GB, and you want to partition it to make another drive of 100 GB.
Click Start, then right click on Computer, then click on Manage. A new Window called ‚Computer Management‘ will open.
On the left side under Storage, click on ‚Disk Management‘. Then on the right side your current drive will appear with its volume size. Right click on it and select ‚Shrink Volume‘.
Now the shrink volume window will open. Here you have to specify the amount of space you would like to shrink to make your new drive.
As we said, if you wish to make a new drive of 100 GB then type 102400 in the box that says ‚Enter the amount of space to shrink in MB:‘. (Now that 1024 MB makes 1 GB, so to get 100 GB you have to multiply it: 1024 * 100 MB. So in the box just enter 102400.)
Click on Shrink.
Now you will find your new drive which is showing ‚Unallocated‘. Right click on it, select ‚New Simple Volume’. Follow the steps, you will have several windows here. In one of the following windows you can choose any ‘letter’ as your new Driver’s identity. Now come to an end -‘Finish’.
Enjoy working in Windows 7.
