Conversation in German: Shopping (Einkaufen)

Post by Admin »

Let's start a conversation today:

Martin: Danke vielmals. Einen schönen Tag noch. Auf wiedersehen.

Verkäuferin: Auf Wiedersehen.

In English

Martin: Good day, how much does half kilo tomatoes cost?

Saleswoman: Hello, it costs 2.99 Euro.

Martin: That's very expensive!

Saleswoman: Well, the tomatoes are ‘Organic' and above all here you buy everything fresh.

Martin: I love organic foods, then I take 250g. I would also like to have two carrots ... .yes from here........they are medium in size.

Saleswoman: Anything else?

Martin: Do you have bread rolls.........ahh..........there I see..........please give me 4 pieces from there. Now I have everything I need. As I am travelling Munich this afternoon, I would like to take something with me to eat.

Saleswoman: How do you travel to Munich?

Martin: With the train. The on-board catering of the German Railway is very expensive and I am still a student. That's why I always try to save a little bit of money. By the way, how much does it cost altogether?

Saleswoman: For the tomatoes, it’s 1,50 Euro, for the 2 carrots 0.66 Euro and the 4 bread rolls are 0.60 Euro, altogether 2.76 Euro. But for you only 2.50 Euro.

Martin: Oh great. Thanks a lot for the discount.

Saleswoman: With pleasure and I wish you a good trip to Munich, and good luck with your studies!

Martin: Thank you very much. Have a nice day. Goodbye.

Saleswoman: Goodbye.
