A recent study published on British Medical Journal, found that consumption of sugary drinks was positively associated with the risk of overall cancer and breast cancer.
100% fruit juices were also positively associated with the risk of overall cancer.
Among others, sugary drinks are associated with an increased risk of weight gain, being overweight, or obesity, type 2 diabetes, a higher risk of hypertension.
So what are sugary drinks:
As mentioned in the study, drinks containing more than 5% of simple carbohydrates, as well as 100% fruit juices are sugary drinks.
Interesting is: the so-called '100% fruit juices' also fall under this category.
Soft drinks, syrups, 100% juice, fruit drinks, sugar sweetened hot beverages, milk-based sugar sweetened beverages, sport drinks, and energy drinks – study finds these all types of drinks pose health risks.
Energy drinks are highly popular among young people. That's very worrisome.
So guys, try to avoid energy drinks, fruit juices and other sugary beverages. Stay healthy
